Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. [Isaiah 66: 1-2]

Jesus raises Jairus' daughter back to life

New Living Translation

Matthew 9: 18-26

18. As Jesus was saying this, the leader of a synagogue came and knelt down before him. "My daughter has just died," he said, "but you can bring her back to life again if you just come and lay your hand upon her." 19. As Jesus and the disciples were going to the official's home, 20. a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, 21. for she thought, "If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed." 22. Jesus turned around and said to her, "Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed at that moment. 23. When Jesus arrived at the official's home, he noticed the noisy crowds and heard the funeral music. 24. He said, "Go away, for the girl isn't dead; she's only asleep." But the crowd laughed at him. 25. When the crowd was finally outside, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she stood up! 26. The report of this miracle swept through the entire countryside.

Mark 5: 21-43

21. When Jesus went back across to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him on the shore. 22. A leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, came and fell down before him, 23. pleading with him to heal his little daughter. "She is about to die," he said in desperation. "Please come and place your hands on her; heal her so she can live." 24. Jesus went with him, and the crowd thronged behind. 25. And there was a woman in the crowd who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years. 26. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors through the years and had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she was worse. 27. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched the fringe of his robe. 28. For she thought to herself, "If I can just touch his clothing, I will be healed." 29. Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel that she had been healed! 30. Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" 31. His disciples said to him, "All this crowd is pressing around you. How can you ask, 'Who touched me?'" 32. But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. 33. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done. 34. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. You have been healed." 35. While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from Jairus's home with the message, "Your daughter is dead. There's no use troubling the Teacher now." 36. But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me." 37. Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn't let anyone go with him except Peter and James and John. 38. When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the weeping and wailing. 39. He went inside and spoke to the people. "Why all this weeping and commotion?" he asked. "The child isn't dead; she is only asleep." 40. The crowd laughed at him, but he told them all to go outside. Then he took the girl's father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. 41. Holding her hand, he said to her, "Get up, little girl!" 42. And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! Her parents were absolutely overwhelmed. 43. Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone what had happened, and he told them to give her something to eat.

Luke 8: 40-56

40. On the other side of the lake the crowds received Jesus with open arms because they had been waiting for him. 41. And now a man named Jairus, a leader of the local synagogue, came and fell down at Jesus' feet, begging him to come home with him. 42. His only child was dying, a little girl twelve years old. As Jesus went with him, he was surrounded by the crowds. 43. And there was a woman in the crowd who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years. She had spent everything she had on doctors and still could find no cure. 44. She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. 45. "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, "Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you." 46. But Jesus told him, "No, someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me." 47. When the woman realized that Jesus knew, she began to tremble and fell to her knees before him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. 48. "Daughter," he said to her, "your faith has made you well. Go in peace." 49. While he was still speaking to her, a messenger arrived from Jairus's home with the message, "Your little girl is dead. There's no use troubling the Teacher now." 50. But when Jesus heard what had happened, he said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me, and she will be all right." 51. When they arrived at the house, Jesus wouldn't let anyone go in with him except Peter, James, John, and the little girl's father and mother. 52. The house was filled with people weeping and wailing, but he said, "Stop the weeping! She isn't dead; she is only asleep." 53. But the crowd laughed at him because they all knew she had died. 54. Then Jesus took her by the hand and said in a loud voice, "Get up, my child!" 55. And at that moment her life returned, and she immediately stood up! Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56. Her parents were overwhelmed, but Jesus insisted that they not tell anyone what had happened.
