Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. [Isaiah 66: 1-2]

    Deuteronomy 25

  • 1. If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.
  • 2. And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.
  • 3. Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.
  • 4. Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.
  • 5. If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.
  • 6. And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.
  • 7. And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.
  • 8. Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
  • 9. Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.
  • 10. And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.
  • 11. When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
  • 12. Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.
  • 13. Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.
  • 14. Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.
  • 15. But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  • 16. For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
  • 17. Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;
  • 18. How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.
  • 19. Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.
  • Psalms 116

  • 1. I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
  • 2. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
  • 3. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
  • 4. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
  • 5. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
  • 6. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
  • 7. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
  • 8. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
  • 9. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
  • 10. I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
  • 11. I said in my haste, All men are liars.
  • 12. What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
  • 13. I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.
  • 14. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
  • 15. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
  • 16. O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
  • 17. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.
  • 18. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.
  • 19. In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
  • Isaiah 52

  • 1. Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.
  • 2. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
  • 3. For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
  • 4. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.
  • 5. Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
  • 6. Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
  • 7. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
  • 8. Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.
  • 9. Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
  • 10. The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
  • 11. Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
  • 12. For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rearward.
  • 13. Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
  • 14. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
  • 15. So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
